Registration is still open for our 9th annual 5K!
April 25, 2020
Location: VIRTUAL EVENT due to COVID-19
UPDATE as of 03.22.20:
Based on the Executive Order signed by the NC Governor we need to cancel our 'in-person' 5K event.
WHEREAS, on March 15, 2020, the Centers for Disease Control ("CDC") updated their guidance for large events and mass gatherings, and recommended that for the next eight (8) weeks, organizers (whether groups or individuals) cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of fifty (50) people or more throughout the United States;
While it saddens us deeply that we will not be able to host our event this year, we are excited to offer a VIRTUAL 5K! We will email everyone registered for the 'in-person' event a link to record their time. The Virtual event will be open from April 25th - May 10th and registration will be open until May 10th. Each person that records their time will receive a Miles Against Melanoma finisher's medal. These have been generously donated to us by The Arboretum Shopping center. The email will provide more information on the virtual event and details on discounts for next years event.
We are asking that you still continue to build your teams and raise funds! We can't let COVID-19 keep ups from our mission!
Register to run or walk in our Levine Cancer Institute's 5K. Our youngest supporters under 12 can participate in the Kids Dash, which is approximately a 30 yard run. Run your 5K or kids dash anytime between April 25th - May 10th, go online and record your time! A link will be posted shortly to this website and our Facebook page. Once your time is recorded you will be eligible for a medal. We are asking those in Charlotte and the surrounding areas to pick it up at Omega Sports in the Arboretum. All others will be mailed.
Our annual 5K is the main fundraising event for Miles Against Melanoma. All proceeds go towards raising melanoma awareness and helping to find a cure for melanoma. You can help by either making a donation to our organization or by creating your own fundraiser.
Our sponsors make our 5K a huge success! We have different levels for every type of interest. Find out how you can promote your business while making an impact in the local community and Levine Cancer Institute by becoming one of our sponsors!
In memory of Amy Robinson
Miles Against Melanoma NC was created in honor of my sister, Amy Jo Robinson. She was first diagnosed with melanoma when she was just a junior in high school after a biopsy was performed on a mole she had removed. Her lymph nodes were removed from the surrounding area and she was in remission for over 10 years until it came back in her lungs and eventually took her life. Amy was only 30 years old when she died. Miles Against Melanoma NC is dedicated to raising the public's awareness of melanoma and funds for its research so no one else will have to suffer like Amy. Thank you so much for your support!
Proceeds will benefit the Levine Cancer Institute and other initiatives to increase the public's awareness of melanoma and the damaging effects of the sun and tanning beds.
