Update for 2021 5K
Due to the extension of Governor Cooper's statewide restrictions we have decided to postpone our event originally scheduled for April 24, 2021. We are currently looking at dates for the fall of 2021 in hopes that it can be an in-person event, fully attended by sponsors, supporters and participants. Please continue to check back here and on our Facebook page. Thank you so much for your patience as we try to make our 10th annual event the best it can be!
Thank you to everyone who participated in our 9th annual virtual 5K!
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic we had 253 registrants and raised $21,000! Those funds will go to the Melanoma and Immunotherapy Fund at Levine Cancer Institute bringing our total since inception to $258,000!
In memory of Amy Robinson
Miles Against Melanoma NC was created in honor of my sister, Amy Jo Robinson. She was first diagnosed with melanoma when she was just a junior in high school after a biopsy was performed on a mole she had removed. Her lymph nodes were removed from the surrounding area and she was in remission for over 10 years until it came back in her lungs and eventually took her life. Amy was only 30 years old when she died. Miles Against Melanoma NC is dedicated to raising the public's awareness of melanoma and funds for its research so no one else will have to suffer like Amy. Thank you so much for your support!
Proceeds will benefit the Levine Cancer Institute and other initiatives to increase the public's awareness of melanoma and the damaging effects of the sun and tanning beds.
